Motorman/Mechanic OOW class 4 engineering held

i currently hold OOW engineering, and also came through college as qualified Electro-Technical officer. currently working offshore on a shuttle tanker, bow loading in the north sea, DP class 1.
i have been on the tanker now for 1 year, is this enough experience to progress to the Rig Industry, or should i gain more, before applying for positions?
