Oil Rig Jobs Experience Required

i am very thankful to you for accepting and answering my question on "how to start". as i said i will be a marine engineer next year and you said that i have to get some experience on ship. now my question is that how many years of experience should i have? i will have a 6 month sailing experience as a trainee engineer after which i have to pass my exams to get (COC)CERTIFICATE FOR COMPETENCY-4 after which i will be a 4th engineer. SO what is d minimum experience required for me to start job on rigs? do i have to sail as a fourth engineer also(as i want to get into rigs as soon as possible)
