offshore baking

by doug riddle
(mt.vernon,oh. u.s.a. )

ive have 29 yrs experience as baker. ive seen 2 jobs posted (missippi and tx.) is it common practice for bakers on a rig? they both are listed from a job agency for offshore oil riggs, is that a dependable way to start? the one contract i got (miss.)WANTS A LIMITED POWER OF ATTORNEY i dont mind paying them $900 to get the job,i didnt like thier IDEA of LIMITED power, it dont read as limited

DO NOT SPEND ANY MONEY WITH ANY AGENT AS THEY ARE ALL SCAMMING Rigs have night bakers go log on to Transocean and Seadrill and other drilling company sites

Ship Cook or Steward Job Wanted

by Jerry A. Conner
(3080 34th street,north #36 St.Petersburg,Fl.33713)

Currently unemployed and am looking for any position as O.S, Cook or steward's dept on any merchant vessel. Past experience is four years as bosun's mate, U.S.Navy and 5 years as merchant seaman. Vessels include; Aircraft carriers, Sightseeing vessels, ocean going tugs, and crew vessels and cruise lines. I'am 48 and in good health any information you have will be welcomed. My Merchant seaman's document has expired as has my passport but if a company would renew theses documents, I would be intrested in applying for that company. My address is; Jerry A. Conner 3080 34th street, north# 36 St.Petersburg,Florida 33713 or my email; Jerryconner2009@yahoo.com

ANSWER
If you want overseas employment or even a US ship that goes overseas you need a passport and no one is even going to look at you without it, and they will not help you get it either, this is marine employment 101 stuff, also check regards all the rules now for Seamans Books etc Renew them! There are many tug and offshore supply vessels that can offer jobs and you will need a good resume with all your experience outlined to move forward. Also you need to invest in a Seamans Medical Certificate as well! The jobs are out there and the rest is up to you, experience really helps so go after it.

Housekeeper Job Wanted on Oil Rig

(Tina)

I am interested in an off shore oil rig position as housekeeper.....how would this be worded and where would this be listed

Answer
There is no such thing as a housekeeper on an oil rig, the nearest equivalent would be in catering as utility hand or steward and you should contact one the various rig catering companies as this is all contracted out

Oil Rig catering jobs

by Punto Tjahjadi
(Yogyakarta, DIY, Indonesia)

1. How do I apply to get a job on oil rig catering?
2. How much the avarage salary for restaurant stewards?
3. Where do I apply? I am Indonesian, what type of Visa if I want the job in Australia?
4. How about the working schedule on off shore?

Answers
1. Go and talk to catering companies such as Sodexho as they employ people
2. Salaries vary talk to catering contractors
3. Go talk to catering companies and apply with CV showing your relevant experience, for Australia you have to have Australian work visa and I have to say that would be highly unlikely right now
4. Rotations are typically 28 and 28 off
