Rig Night Cook, Breakfast Cook

by Daniel O'Connor
(Mudgeeraba, Queensland, Australia)

I have all certificates relevant to being a cook on offshore ships or rigs and have 20 years experience in the cooking industry. I have been head chef at several establishments on the Gold Coast over the past 5 years and am very interested in gaining employment on oil rigs or tender rig ships.

Is it difficult to gain employment with little offshore experience. I have recently completed a 49 day term on the CSL Atlantic Bulk Carrier with Inco Ships Pty Ltd. I have my AMSA Certificate, Seafarers Service Book, Medical Certificate and am waiting on my MSIC Certificate to arrive.
